TOPOGRAPHIC PROMINENCE OF A MOUNTAIN'S SUMMIT: The TOPOGRAPHIC PROMINENCE of a peak, is the height of this peak above the highest saddle connecting it to a higher peak (here "saddle" means the lowest point on a ridge connecting two peaks). A common definition of a mountain is a summit with a 300 m PROMINENCE, OR HIGHER (UIAA International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation). For example, EVERY ONE OF THE 14 EIGHT-THOUSANDERS OF THE HIMALAYA-KARAKORAM HAS A PROMINENCE GREATER THAN 600 m (that means a 7.5 % Relative Prominence),
